Meet Brittany Dafesh

Dr. Brittany Dafesh received her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from The California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles in Clinical Psychology. Her clinical dissertation examined the role of mental health professionals in working with adolescent and young adult women who have sexually transmitted infections. Her other research interests include exploring treatments that work in couples therapy and the relationship between trauma, attachment, and beliefs.

With regard to clinical training, Dr. Brittany completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Faulk Center for Counseling in Boca Raton, FL. Through her work, she provided psychotherapy and psychological testing to adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She also led Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups for those who had challenges with emotionally regulating, tolerating distress, and being effective in their relationships. In addition, she led Young Adult groups for those who were having challenges with anxiety, depression, and launching into adulthood. Within this setting, she also received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an integrative psychotherapy approach for the treatment of trauma. Dr. Brittany incorporates DBT and EMDR therapeutic techniques in her work with individuals who have experienced trauma, as well as those who have depression, anxiety, and personality disorders.

Previously, Dr. Brittany provided psychodynamic psychotherapy to adults and family systems psychotherapy to families at Airport Marina Counseling Service. She also provided psychotherapeutic services to children at the Department of Mental Health Specialized Foster Care and the Alhambra Unified School District. Additionally, Dr. Brittany has worked as a mental health counselor in high schools, a direct care staff member in foster group homes, a behavior instructor for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and a rape crisis counselor at a sexual assault crisis agency. Dr. Brittany’s diverse training experiences have given her the opportunity to develop her skill in building secure, supportive, and encouraging therapeutic relationships with a wide variety of individuals.
